AARP Livability Index
We created a way for older adults to determine where to live in America by combining mapping software with relevant data sets to come up with a score for every corner of the country.
Searching for Compatibility
The index rates locations on a scale from 0 to 100 by taking the average of the following categories: housing, neighborhood, transportation, environment, health, engagement and opportunity.
Enduring Influence
We integrated mapping software to help AARP determine the best places to live in America. The index continues to be a featured application and a source of information on geographical trends.
The Power of a Postal Code
All you need to know for the livability index is a ZIP code.
Our algorithm, which pulls from the best available data sets, delivers an overall score.
To understand the score, see how it breaks down by category. A large city might score high on transportation but low on housing, due to cost.
Want to compare multiple locations? You can do that too, thanks to our third-party data integration.
Navigating Transitions
We created myriad ways for older adults to face everything life throws at them with wisdom, support, and clarity.
